When it comes to sports, chances are that we like to see it on TV and practice some fitness or other type of sport twice a week. Some of us might even take it further and maybe run a marathon, while others see sports as a career and a way of life.
The rest of us see athletes as a special kind of people. Their will, determination to succeed and passion for their line of work is something we all deeply admire.
Jordan Matter, a photographer famous from his series Dancers Among Us, felt the same way and started a new series of photos called Athletes Among Us: an ode to those special people who see sports as a way of life. The images capture athletes in the most mundane of moments: going shopping, sightseeing, climbing the stairs out of the subway, or playing games at a carnival.
The pictures show us that there is really no way in which you can separate your private life from sports, if you are an athlete. Sport is your life, and the way you live it is special. Jordan Matters really captured the essence of these amazing people we all look up to.
